I had a very negative experience with Justin Shane Baker (shanebakerstudios) that I feel compelled to share to warn others. I initially hired this photographer for a professional photoshoot, expecting a safe and comfortable environment, as they came highly recommended. However, my experience was anything but professional.
From the start, I felt uncomfortable with their behavior. During the shoot, [Photographer’s Name] made multiple inappropriate comments and seemed to overstep boundaries that I had clearly communicated. Their actions made it clear that they were more focused on making suggestive remarks than on capturing the images we had discussed. I tried to brush it off initially, hoping it was just a misunderstanding, but as the shoot progressed, the comments became more overt and made me feel incredibly uneasy.
What was especially concerning was the way they seemed to disregard my boundaries when I expressed discomfort. A professional photographer should always maintain a respectful and appropriate demeanor, particularly in a setting where trust and comfort are paramount. Unfortunately, this individual failed to meet that basic expectation.
The final product, which was supposed to be a portfolio shoot, was also underwhelming. The photos were poorly composed, and many of them were not even edited properly. In addition to the unprofessional behavior, I found myself frustrated with the lack of attention to detail in the work itself.
I do not recommend Justin Shane Baker (shanebakerstudios) to anyone looking for a professional and respectful experience. It’s essential to feel safe and respected when working with someone in a creative setting, and unfortunately, this photographer did not provide that. I hope they take the time to reflect on their conduct and understand the impact of their actions on others.
